Thai police have said they are investigating allegations that the crew of a Thai fishing vessel killed two Indonesia navy personnel in Indonesian waters.

According to the Nation, the alleged incident took place on March 8 when a group of Indonesian marines stopped the fishing vessel Nattaya 7 in the Natuna Sea in Indonesian waters and requested it dock in Indonesia for further inspection. Two marine officers then boarded the fishing vessel to ensure it followed instructions.

Two witnesses said the crew members then hit the two Indonesian navy personnel over the head with a hammer and stabbed them to death. The victims' bodies were then reportedly dumped in Indonesian waters before the fishing vessel sailed back to Thailand, the Bangkok Post reported.

Nattaya 7 reportedly left Songhkla in December to fish in Indonesian waters. It had 13 crew members on board. It was reported by the Bangkok Post that the incident has reportedly spurred Indonesia to ban Thai fishing vessels from operating in Indonesian waters.
