The only review worse than a negative review is no review at all: one in which your boss gives little praise, and even less criticism. Any decent leader knows that growth in the workplace requires direct feedback, so a quarterly review lacking any opinion or depth at all is a surefire sign that your boss couldn't give two sh*ts about you and the work you do. Similarly, a performance review that's delayed by a week or two is one thing, but one that's skipped entirely is undeniably a bad sign. C'mon, nobody can be THAT busy. While you may currently relish the idea of not having to sit down with a superior to be told you should be working more for the already meager pay you receive, if your boss keeps pushing off your quarterly assessment, your "final review" has already been written - it just hasn't been delivered yet.
