The Syrian army makes fresh gains in its fight against foreign-backed insurgents.
Troops gained control of parts of the Morek town in Hama countryside. The development came following fierce clashes with the insurgents there. Morek was seized by the militants last month. The Syrian army also managed to defuse two roadside bombs on the main road between Hama and Mhardeh. Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011. Over 150-thousand people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the violence fueled by Western-backed militants.
