There is one road in and out to the village of Tfail. The Lebanese village is an enclave surrounded on three sides by Syrian territory.
It has been caught in the conflict but now a convoy of six Lebanese Red Cross trucks has taken much needed aid to the 2,000 villagers.
The area was bombed last week by Syrian government aircraft and blocked by Lebanese militants fighting alongside President Bashar al-Assad’s forces.
General Mohammad Khair Head of relief committee spoke to assured the inhabitants.
“I would like to reassure the residents of Tfail that all the surrounding villages especially Brital are supporting them, every Lebanese who is protecting his country we all support him,” he said.
The relief effort is seen as a rare example of humanitarian cooperation between the Lebanese factions supporting opposing sides in the Syrian conflict.
Extended negotiations between Sunni clerics, Shiite clerics loyal to Hezbollah and Lebanese security officials took place before the convoy could drive into the village.
