UK public distrust politicians

4 years ago15 views

Britain proclaims itself as a nation of fair politics and trustworthy politicians, but regular opinion polls reveal a stark contrast between the self-image of politics and how the public actually feels.

According to a public poll politicians are the least trusted profession in the UK, being more distrusted than bankers and estate agents.

The poll shows that four in ten people no longer trust politicians to put national interest first in line.

Large segments of UK society feel that many British politicians are essentially liars and complain that the elected representative’s pledges are hardly ever kept.

Mistrust in politics is four times higher than it was in the mid-80s, yet UK politicians continuously ignore the demands of the people.
