Stupid criminals: Beer thieves fall from 10th-floor balcony in clumsy escape

Suspected Beer thieves Gabriel Sauceda, 22, and Chad Walker, 20, are probably wishing they'd made wiser choices on Saturday Night after they tried to evade cops by jumping from the tenth-floor balcony of a hotel in Santa Ana, California after a botched beer heist on Saturday evening.

The two were at a party in the Embassy Suites just after 5 p.m. when they went out for supplies.

They successfully stole beer from the Mobil shop next door and went back for more an hour later. But this time the store clerk spotted them going back to the hotel.

Police caught up with the young men at the party, who immediately ran to the balcony in an attempted escape.

Police on the ground reported seeing the two men "jump from balcony to balcony," but Sauceda fell and broke his leg in several places.

Officers arrested the pair without incident and booked them on suspicion of burglary.

Sauceda was to be rescued by the fire department and transferred to a local hospital.
