The Syrian army has started an operation to break the militants’ siege on the northern city of Aleppo.
The army has regained control over an area extending from what used to bes Syria’s economic capital to the southeast town of Khanasser in the Aleppo province. A convoy of trucks carrying food supplies, and fuel arrived in the city through the road crossing Khanasser. Foreign-backed militants attacked the road several times to hamper the aid efforts. However, they were repelled by government forces. Efforts aimed at breaking the weeks-long insurgent siege of Aleppo comes as the army has made major gains across the country.
