A skydiver who sadly died following an Easter Sunday jump has been identified as 49-year-old Arkady Shenker from Brooklyn, NY.

He was found in a yard in Washington Township, New Jersey.

The people who first noticed Shenker’s descent were enjoying their annual Easter egg hunt at the time.

"I saw the jumpers and I said, look the parachuters. And then I noticed then there was one over there which shouldn't be.
And then it kind of looked like he wasn't conscious. He was just spinning." [WPVI]

When the diver made ground contact people from the neighborhood rushed to check on him and found he was unconscious but breathing.

Paramedics arrived and rushed Shenker to the hospital where he died later that afternoon as a result of the injuries he had sustained.

Police secured the accident site, and the diver’s gear remained there for most of the day.

The investigation is ongoing, and now involves the Washington Township Police, the county prosecutor, and the FAA.

Thus far it’s been learned that Shenker was an experienced skydiver, and was wearing specialized gear, called a wing suit, at the time of the accident.

It’s unclear if the suit malfunctioned or if it was another variable that caused the fatal incident.
