Japanese robot performs various human-like activities

The Japanese company, Honda has developed its ASIMO robot into a more practical humanoid that can perform a range of tasks.

The ASIMO robot can now walk, run and climb stairs easily on top of doing other tasks. The machine stands at one meter twenty centimeters, and weighs fifty two kilograms. It now has five fingers on each hand with feedback sensors. ASIMO can also pick up a sealed container filled with orange juice, unscrew the top and pour the juice. This is a simple task for humans, but for a robot, it involves many active sensors. Earlier versions of ASIMO were larger and heavier, but this robot is far more independent.
