Another deadly day in Iraq; at least 30 people are killed in separate attacks across the country.
In one attack, gunmen in military outfits opened fire on a small military base outside Mosul, killing 12 soldiers and wounding about a dozen others. In other parts of Iraq, bomb and shooting attacks by militants suspected to belong to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group left 18 people dead. Meanwhile, assailants stirred panic in Salahuddin province after setting ablaze leaking oil from a rusting pipeline. Ambulances evacuated residents, finding difficulty breathing. With national elections just two weeks away, violence has surged in the already insecure country.
