    Gaza marks Palestinian Prisoner Day

    Palestinians in the Gaza Strip held a rally to mark the fortieth anniversary of Palestinian Prisoner Day.
    Members of all Palestinian factions in the blockaded coastal enclave voiced their solidarity with thousands of Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli prisons and detention centers. Palestinian Prisoner Day is a day of remembrance for the first Palestinian prisoner swap deal with the Israeli regime in 1974.The occasion is observed by Palestinians both in the occupied territories and around the world. Currently there are at least five thousand Palestinians inside Israeli prisons and detention centers including minors and women. Palestinian prisoner in Israeli custody went on a one day hunger-strike to mark the Prisoner Day. Israeli forces have arrested and imprisoned 800,000 Palestinians since 1967. As they mark Palestinian Prisoner Day people here accuse the International community of turning a blind eye to what they describe as Israeli crimes against Palestinian prisoners.
