Men are not supposed to cry. Right?
Despite all the progress we have made in the changing of the roles of the sexes, there are some old-fashioned standards that still plague both sides of the sexual fence. Women still don't mind a gentleman holding the door, and men should keep their emotions to themselves. Have we really come that far if my friends bust my chops for getting emotional when Maximus lies bleeding in the sand in Gladiator?
This week, the world is buzzing about Pharrell's tear-filled appearance on Oprah Prime. Maybe he did it to distract form the hat, but regardless, he let his sensitive side show with out any compunction. In the video, he is reacting to the world reacting to his music, and we see that he is visibly overwhelmed by the impact his song "Happy" is having around the globe. But did he really need to cry? Isn't that something we aren't supposed to let hang out for all the world to see? Would Barack Obama cry if we played a sizzle reel of his biggest fans?
