Oscar Pistorius cross-examination ends with prosecution accusation he 'armed himself to kill Reeva'

The prosecution in the murder trial of Oscar Pistorius has ended its cross-examination of the South African athlete.
Pistorius spent five days in the witness box, fielding questions from prosecutor Gerrie Nel, known as The Pitbull for his aggressive style of questioning.
Accused of deliberately killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp after an argument, Pistorius broke down several times.
Summing up, Gerrie Nel said: “She locked herself into the toilet, you armed yourself for the sole purpose of shooting and killing her.”
Pistorius replied: “That’s not true, my lady.”
Nel returned: “And that’s what you did. Afterwards, indeed, you were overcome by what you had done, that is true.”
Pistorius: “That is true, my lady.”
Nel: “Only because it was your intention to kill her, you realise that.”
The 29-year-old model and law graduate was fatally shot on Valentine’s Day last year. While the prosecution claims the couple argued and Pistorius shot her in a rage, the Paralympian athlete insists he mistook her for an intruder hiding in the toilet.
He faces life in prison if convicted.
The trial is likely to run into May.
