Taiwan tourist killed and his wife abducted at Malaysian resort

A Taiwanese tourist was killed and his wife kidnapped at a Malaysian resort around 1a.m. on Friday (November 15).

According to reports, heavily armed men arrived at the Pulau Pom Pom resort by pump boat and ransacked three villas, one of which was occupied a Taiwanese couple, Lin Min Hsu, 57, and his wife An Wei Chang, 58.

Hsu was found dead next to the door of the his villa with two gunshots to his chest. His wife is believed to have been seized by the gunmen.

A supervisor at the resort heard gunshots at around 1 a.m. and reported to the General Operations Force. By 1:05 a.m., 15 members of the force led by a sergeant arrived at the scene

Pom Pom island is a 45-minute boat ride from Semporna, Malaysia. The villas are built 800 m from the beach. The couple had been staying at the resort since November 12 and was expected to check out on November 20.

Authorities suspect the gunmen fled to the southern Philippines.
