Osaka shines during Osaka Feast of Light 2013
  • 10 years ago
The Japanese city of Osaka is glowing with a dazzling display of lights for the holiday season during the Osaka Feast of Light. During the festival, which runs through Christmas to the New Year, historic buildings, parks and streets and other locations in Osaka are adorned with gorgeous illuminations.

Osaka's festival uses 3D projection mapping technology to project large-scale 3D images onto historic Osaka Castle. The garden surrounding the old castle is paved with one million blue LED bulbs, creating spectacular a ocean of light, while the castle itself is enveloped in flames, a spiral dragon or a roaring tiger. Visitors walk through a splendid 400-meter corridor of light to approach the castle itself, where they can enjoy a music and light show on the premises.
