The name of the program will presumably be changed to reflect the new moderator.

CBS and Colbert agreed on a five year deal. CBS Corporation’s President and CEO, Les Moonves, is happy with the decision and commented ‘Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television. David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.’

Colbert’s premiere date has not been released. His current show 'The Colbert Report' appears on Comedy Central. A statement by Comedy Central notes that he will continue working with the network for the next 8 months.

Letterman formally announced his retirement on April 3rd, but he has not yet established when exactly his final broadcast will be aired, except that it will be in 2015.
