How to Set Up Wireless Ad Hoc Network in Windows 8/Windows 7 ?

Step 1: Go to Search bar and type "cmd" without quotes and there comes a file called cmd.exe ,right click on it and click to run as an Administrator, Command window pops up.


Step 2: Check for Drivers by typing the command below

netsh Wlan show drivers


If it comes that your computer support hosted network than you can create Ad Hoc network,if not than you can't create .

Step 3: Run these commands

1) Type a Command below to create wireless Ad Hoc network ..


netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=computer1 key=61112561


ssid name can be anything,it is your network name ,in this case it is computer1 ,and you can assign any password to it and in this case it is 61112561 and it should be of 8 characters and it can be anything.


2.) Type a Command below to start up a hosted network


netsh wlan start hostednetwork


3.) Type a Command Below to stop a Hosted network when you want to stop it


netsh wlan stop hostednetwork


In this way ,you can create a Wireless Ad Hoc network on windows 8 or windows 7 and than start sharing files and folders .
