A Chinese man in Hebei Province has devoted his spare time to create miniature masterpieces.
Zhao Weihua has always been obsessed with carving since childhood. However, he started his hobby after retirement. He began working on fist-sized woods before moving on to make much smaller size miniatures. Zhao says each piece takes about two months or even more to complete. Zhao has produced many life-like miniature human portraits on objects as small as one-quarter of a sesame seed. However, he fears for the survival of the art since he says there are only ten people in China who have the skill; and they are all in their seventies.
