The second annual JLA Banked Slalom twisted its way down the steep, banked, and challenging course over the weekend at Mammoth Mountain. The event was created to celebrate the life of Jeff Anderson, who among many other things was a Burton team rider, and tragically passed away 11 years ago. Mammoth Mountain was Jeff's home and the perfect place to host the second banked slalom.

Classically bluebird California weather gave way to a course that pushed the limits of even the best riders, who competed more for bragging rights and pride, than prizes. Tight berms littered with ruts and bumps, jumps into corners, as well as a few other tricks led to some good spills as well as some fast times. The creative and technical course highlighted each rider's true skills and board control as it only became more rutted and challenging throughout the day. Banked slaloms are a great chance to compete in the same event as some of the world's top pros, and they have been recently popping up all over the country. If you've ever wanted to enter a contest, push the level of your riding, as well as see how you do under pressure, be sure to enter a banked slalom at some point.

Hear from Kelly Clark, Dave Downing, John Jackson, some of Jeff's best friends, as well as his brother Billy Anderson on what he meant to them as well as to the sport of snowboarding.
