A new report shows Turkey was behind last year’s sarin gas attack carried out by foreign-backed insurgents in Syria.
American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has said in article published in the London Review of Books that Turkey staged the gas attack to provoke a US war on Syria. The attack in the Damascus suburb of Ghouta last August claimed hundreds of lives. The Obama administration and the US media immediately blamed the Syrian government for the atrocity. The incident also became the pretext for a warmongering campaign by Washington and its allies. Hersh’s account shows the US military leadership knew that the White House claims were false. The report also says the American and British intelligence had been aware that insurgents in Syria were developing chemical weapons. So far, the UN-led inquiries have found NO evidence on the government’s involvement.
