The arrest of a US police officer in India has sparked another row between New Delhi and Washington.
The officer identified as Manny Encarnacion was detained last month at the New Delhi airport after bullets were found in his luggage. But, a US lawmaker has called the incident politically motivated. In a letter to the State Department, Peter King has accused New Delhi of taking revenge over the detention of an Indian diplomat in New York. Last year, the US police detained and strip-searched Devyani Khobragade on alleged visa fraud, causing a bitter rift between the two countries. Meanwhile, the Indian diplomatic mission in New York has denied any link between the two arrests.
