Fresh anger at European austerity drive; Belgian protesters clash with security forces near the U-S Embassy in Brussels. Riot police used water cannons and pepper spray to disperse protesters as they hit the officers with oranges and cobblestones. The violence left a police officer injured. The protesters did not target the embassy but sent it into lock-down as police closed the area to the traffic. The rally by over 25-thousand people was called by the European Trade Union Confederation against austerity measures implemented across the European Union. Protesters also voiced their concerns over social dumping that is replacing local hires with cheaper workers.
