The year was 2006 and Smallville was a hit for The WB and executives decided to go back to the superhero well one more time and Aquaman was born. Starring Justin Hartley as the gilled one, the series co-starred Ving Rhames and Lou Diamond Phillips and had it been picked up was set to explore eco-centric story-lines mixed with the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle (always an amazing combination). Yet I think IGN described it the best when editors called it the "unholy spawn" that would have come from Pacific Blue and Baywatch having a child (I'm paraphrasing). Although here's the best part Adrianne Palicki, who was to front NBC's Wonder Woman failed reboot also starred in this project as the villain. On the bright side, at least in this case fans were supposed to hate her.
