A teenager in Mexico will soon be facing charges of murder after she allegedly stabbed her best friend. 16-year-old Erandy Elizabeth Gutierrez was formally arrested at her friend, Anel Baez’s funeral.
Police believe the motive for the murder is related to naked selfies that were posted to social media. The photos showed the two friends in the nude together. When Baez posted them to her Facebook account, Gutierrez became livid.
What ensued was an online battle. Gutierrez expressed her displeasure on Twitter and reportedly commented in a posting that has since been deleted ‘It may seem that I am very calm, but in my head I have killed you at least three times.’
On March 19th Baez reportedly invited the accused over to try to make amends. Gutierrez arrived at the residence and immediately asked to use the bathroom.
Instead she allegedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim over and over again. Baez was reportedly stabbed a total of 65 times.
Police plan on officially charging Gutierrez within the week.
If found guilty of murder, the maximum prison sentence she will receive is 7 years, as she will be prosecuted as a juvenile.
