Protesters torch police vehicle in Venezuela

Protesters in the Caracas neighbourhood of Chacao clashed with police late on Sunday (March 30) as part of nightly demonstrations against the government of President Nicolas Maduro.

Video shot by resident Victor Machado show protesters throwing rocks and molotovs at a water canon trying to disperse the small crowd of demonstrators. At one point, the truck is ablaze but continues dousing protesters with water.

Anti-government demonstrators in recent protests are demanding that Maduro resign, while Maduro says they want a coup like the one 12 years ago that briefly ousted his predecessor, the late Hugo Chavez.

The numbers of protesters are far fewer than those who turned out against Chavez in 2002, and there have been no signs that the current unrest threatens to topple Maduro.
