Poroshenko vows to find "leaders who sent the snipers" to Maidan

A day after formally uniting with boxer-turned-politician Vitaly Klitschko, Ukraine's "Chocolate King" and presidential candidate Petro Poroshenko visits Independence Square.

Like many others in the square Sunday, he's paying his respects for protesters killed during the country's worst violence since its independence from the former Soviet Union.

(SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) UKRAINIAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE PETRO POROSHENKO, SAYING:

"I'm not interested in just catching snipers. I'm interested in those political leaders who sent the snipers."

Poroshenko was an early supporter of the "Maidan" popular uprising, which toppled President Viktor Yanukovich.

Klitschko says those killed died fighting for their country.
