Millions of people in more than 150 countries are coming together to protect the planet. Cities across seven continents are switching off power at 8:30PM local time.
This one-hour lights-out event kicks off the largest grassroots environment movement in the world. Glittering lights in Japan and South Korea were turned off momentarily to mark Earth Day. Japan’s capital Tokyo and the South Korean capital, Seoul, joined the worldwide event to raise awareness of environmental issues. The event lasts an hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. local time. Iran's capital Tehran as well as other major Iranian cities are also participating. We will show you some of these events across the world as and when we get them.
