American Airlines is under some scrutiny after a staffer left a very insensitive note on a couple’s luggage. James Moehle and Angela Huckaby had just returned home from a wonderful Hawaiian vacation. They were exceptionally happy following their trip, until they realized their luggage was temporarily lost.

Things got far worse after the bag was returned. When the luggage finally arrived, it had a receipt attached with an additional hand written note that exhibited contact information and described the couple as ‘deaf and dumb’.

Given that both Moehle and Huckaby are hearing impaired, they were shocked and offended by the message. The couple has written a letter to American Airlines asking for disciplinary action against the person who wrote the comment. They also want an apology.

Moehle's mother is furious and wants the staffer responsible for the act to be fired. The airline has released a statement noting ‘We apologize to Mr. Moehle and Ms. Huckaby. It was clearly a very poor choice of words. We're confident there was no ill will, but we'll be looking into this further and will be following up with our team members .’

Moehle and Huckaby are still waiting for a sincere regretful acknowledgment and said if they receive one, they will consider flying with American Airlines again.
