Vandals in San Jose are making residents extremely upset. One serene and picturesque neighborhood in the city is being targeted for what is called lawn tagging.

According to residents, the vandals are prowling around the area late at night and poisoning their yards with an unknown substance. The aftermath is a brown patch of dead grass.

The crimes seem to be random, as one side of the street was left alone, but the other side showed one poisoned lawn after another. The vandalism first started in 2012.

Back then, small amounts of poison were used leaving the end result far less drastic. Since the first incidents were discovered, the neighborhood is getting hit more often and the damage from the poisoned lawns is much greater.

During the most recent yard vandalism spree, 30 lawns were targeted. Neighbors have pooled their money to offer a one thousand dollar reward to find the suspects behind the lawn tagging.

They have even sent poisoned soil to a lab for analysis. One resident has installed surveillance cameras outside his home to catch the culprit.

San Jose police are urging victims to file a report online each and every time the vandals strike.
