Mozilla, the organization behind the Firefox web browser, named co-founder Brendan Eich as its new chief executive on Monday, almost a year after its previous top executive Gary Kovacs left. Eich, who is currently Mozilla’s chief technology officer, invented JavaScript, the popular Internet programming language, in 1995. Firefox is the world’s second-most-popular Web browser on desktop computers, with 18% market share, according to Net Applications, a web analytics consulting firm. That trails Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, with 58% share, and is just ahead of Google’s Chrome, with 17% share.
