On wikipedia it says the killer, Nathan Gale, had paranoid schizophrenia and claimed that Pantera stole the lyrics he wrote in his band and he was mad Pantera broke up so he blamed Dimebag Darrel (he was in the marines but his disease forced the marines to expell him)
