Gunfire in Syria as much awaited aid is halted

Less than 24 hours into a much-awaited U.N. mission carrying aid from Turkey to Syria -- operations were halted. It's what one aid official blamed on "administrative hurdles" by the Syrian government.

As the relief supplies sit, new amateur video Reuters cannot independently verify purports to show Syrian rebel groups fighting to take control of a government-controlled border checkpoint with Turkey.

The men claim to have taken these weapons from the checkpoint.

Syria's conflict has has now entered its fourth year with over 140,000 people estimated to have been killed in the civil war.

So far, there is little sign that diplomatic initiatives to ease the crisis are working.
