A pregnant woman is still alive thanks to the life-saving efforts of Border Patrol Agents. The lady was recently pulled from the waters of the All-American Canal, which is located right near the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, agents stationed in El Centro, California were tipped off by a witness who saw the distressed female in the canal.

The authorities quickly rushed to the location and found the woman. They tossed a rescue throw-bag into the water for her to latch onto. The agents then pulled her to safety and learned she is pregnant.

The female told them that her legs were numb which could have been related to the early stages of hypothermia. She was transported to a local hospital for an examination and later discharged.

From there, she headed to the Border Patrol’s El Centro Sector station, where she was processed for ‘suspicion of illegal entry into the U.S’. Her identity was not released, but she is certainly lucky to be alive.

The 225-foot wide and over 80 mile long All-American Canal is known to be very dangerous. Since it was built in the early 1940s, at least 550 people have died in the canal while trying to cross the border.
