Ukraine to pull out its troops and civilians from the Crimea region

    by PressTV

Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Andriy Parubiy says Kiev will seek the U-N support to turn Crimea into a demilitarized zone as it seeks to relocate armed forces to the mainland. This planned pull-out comes as Ukraine’s military is heavily outnumbered in Crimea by the Russian forces. Meanwhile, the deadline that the Ukrainian president set for the release of the arrested navy commander in Crimea, has come to an end with the navy chief still in custody. Earlier, Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov warned that if the ultimatum was not met, Crimea would face QUOTE “an adequate response”. Rear Admiral Sergei Haiduk was arrested by pro-Russian forces after they stormed and seized two naval bases in Crimea earlier in the day.
