Bin Laden's son-in-law unexpectedly testifies

Osama bin Laden's son-in-law, Suleiman Abu Ghaith, unexpectedly testified on terrorism-related charges in a New York federal court.
He said he played no role in al Qaeda plots against the United States.
The man prosecutors accuse of being an al Qaeda spokesman is also accused of knowing about planned attacks against Americans.
In his testimony, Abu Ghaith said he met with Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan, just hours after the September 11, 2001 attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people.
According to Abu Ghaith, bin Laden had asked him if he had heard about the attacks. He said he had first learned of the attacks from news reports.
He also acknowledged making several videos at bin Laden's request, including one that warned a "storm of airplanes" was coming.
He claimed some videos were an attempt to counter propaganda against Muslims from the United States.
