Mike Tyson's recent years have been spent writing memoirs and appearing in documentaries about his life. Today's Mike Tyson is an affable, damaged performer, similar to Jake LaMotta. And although he may have softened up in the years since he's retired from the sweet science, back in the '90s, Iron Mike was a brash, unstoppable force of nature, inside the ring and out.
In 1991, Tyson invited 18-year-old model Desiree Washington to a party. She accepted and rode with Tyson in his limousine back to his hotel. Once in Tyson's hotel room, Washington claims the former undisputed heavyweight champion raped her.
During the trial, Tyson didn't budge on his claims that the sex was consensual, but his defensive, beastly demeanor, which had helped make him a legend in the world of boxing, did little to persuade jurors of his innocence. He was sentenced to six years in prison, served three and was released in 1995.
