Clashes have intensified between Syrian army units and foreign backed militants in Jabor, a village located very close to the Syrian Capital of Damascus. Press TV team headed to the battle zone. Unlike regular confrontations, here militants are mostly active underground.
Here in Jobar in Damascus, the battles are based on tunnels, as foreign backed militants have dug many of them in order to sneak and surprise the Syrian army. The Syrian army, however, discovered this tunnel and decided to detonate it." The tunnel was too tight we had to take off the bullet proof vest to fit in. Tens of meters stretch as part of a network of tunnels that connect the hideouts of militants who were aiming to infiltrate into army centers and carry out a sudden strike. This is not the first tunnel the army discovers and destroys in Jobar. Militant hideouts, which the tunnels extend under, were also razed by Syrian armed forced. As soon an explosion happens, the battle flares up and running is the only solution in such a perilous area. Jobar is one of the closest areas to the capital Damascus where militants are positioned. Months ago, Syrian army units managed to push them back and regain control of the majority of land there. Battles are still ongoing with both sides struggling to achieve victory.
