Syria has suffered damage estimated at 31 billion dollars as a result of its three-year civil war. The figure nearly equals Syria's annual GDP.
That's according to Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi. Halqi did not say whether this is exclusively property damage or refers to some broader measurement. The independent group known as the Economist Intelligence Unit has forecast that Syria's annual G-D-P will reach 34 billion dollars this year. Meanwhile, the Syrian premier has said the budget allocated for reconstruction this year stands at nearly 350 million dollars. He's said the priority for the Syrian government is to restore security and stability by giving the army the means to fight -terrorism.
