Pakistani protesters slam the government strategy in talks with pro-Taliban militants.
Demonstrators in the city of Rawalpindi also denounced the targeted killing of Shia Muslims. They chanted anti-government slogans and urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to reveal the details of a three-billion-dollar loan from Saudi Arabia. The protesters say Islamabad and Riyadh have secretly made a deal over Syria. The Persian Gulf monarchy has been supporting the militants fighting the Syrian government for the past three years. Meanwhile, in the city of Khairpur, a similar rally was organized, where the protesters called on the government to use an iron fist instead of dialog in dealing with extremists. The first round of talks aimed at ending a decade-long insurgency took place earlier in February.
