Charred vehicles with windows blown out are all that remains after a roadside bombing in Pakistan.

The blast in the city of Quetta killed at least 10 people and wounded 35 others.

(SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE, MOHAMMAD JAFFER, SAYING:

"It seems to be from an IED. We will investigate further and let you know. As you can see, this is a crowded area with a lot of traffic and people in the street. The blast took place on a roadside."

A separate attack in Peshawar killed at least nine when a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of a police vehicle.

Emergency responders brought the victims to a local hospital.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The blasts happened as the government tries to engage Pakistani Taliban militants in talks to reach a ceasefire and end years of violence.
