Satisfying Moments In Movies: Jerry Maguire
  • 10 years ago
Tom Cruise films actually have two slots on this list, as his filmography during the '90s produced hit after hit. One of the most notable ones resulted in an Oscar nomination for the then-charismatic star and a win for his talented on-screen foil, Cuba Gooding Jr.

Jerry Maguire may be seen as a bit of a chick flick, but writer/director Cameron Crowe has always been able draw in audiences of all kinds, and that's the case here. A number of Maguire moments could have made this list, but the one that stands out the most is when Gooding Jr.'s cocky athlete Rod Tidwell reels in Cruise's title character with their "Show me the money" exchange.

It may have been early in the movie, but it helped set the tone for what was to come and let audiences know they were in for a full range of emotions. It was an important scene and didn't have to rely on a story twist to get the message across -- just pure raw emotion.
