Giant Earthworm Can Reach Almost 10 Feet in Length

On average, Giant Gippsland worms have a length of 3.3 feet. The creepy crawlers can live up to 5 years of age and if they make that far, the worms could reach nearly 10 feet long.
Generally speaking, earthworms are slightly eerie, given their slimy texture and unattractiveness, but their small size makes them seem relatively harmless.
Australia's Giant Gippsland earthworm, however, is one exception to the rule, as small isn't the best word to describe it. Those who aren’t fans of worms, specifically large ones, should stay far away from the Bass River Valley of South Gippsland in Victoria, as that’s where these creepy crawlers call home.

They burrow deep underground and stay there, even refusing to come to the surface to defecate. Vibrations from footsteps sends the earthworms deeper underground while producing ‘squelching’ noises that can be heard above.
