The city of York has become the first in the UK to entice travelers with a scented guidebook.

In addition to seeing images of the top sights, people can now smell them too.

Those memories aren’t limited to the flowery aspects of the city, or even the physical ones.

One of the aromas offered is a tribute to two York ghosts and smells like a blend of sulfur and roses.

The York Racecourse has also been given the olfactory treatment with aromas of hoof oil, horsehair, and grass.

Tribute is paid to the city’s food scene via a page that smells of strong cheese.

There are some pleasant ones, too.

York’s daffodils are featured as are its lavender-filled fields.

In putting the guidebook together, a team of scent scientists was hired to assess and recreate the smells of 12 of the city’s greatest attractions.

According to a group of critics, sometimes the scientists nailed it, and other times, landed way off their mark.
