Pope delivers prayer before leaving for spiritual retreat

Huge crowds take in Pope Francis' Angelus prayer ahead of a week-long spiritual retreat.
(SOUNDBITE) (Italian) POPE FRANCIS, SAYING:
"I hope that the Lenten journey which has just begun will be fruitful to everyone, and I ask you to include in your prayers me and the employees of the Roman Curia who this evening will start a week of spiritual exercises. Thank you."
The Pope left the Vatican Sunday, for a retreat outside of the city state.
It's the first time in living memory the retreat is being held outside the Vatican.
Some say the decision is another sign of how the Pope is unafraid to change age-old conventions.

"I love the pope, I think Francis comes across like a real father figure and like a normal person."
But others doubt he can change the Roman Catholic Church:
