Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Final Fantasy IV for Nintendo DS developed by Matrix Software and published by Square-Enix. Final Fantasy IV wasn't in nearly the predicament Final Fantasy III was. You could find the adventures of Cecil and his struggle for redemption on any number of platforms. But, after the success of the previous outing, it was a given that one of the most popular titles in the Final Fantasy canon would get the same treatment. What this version brought to the table wasn't so much a mechanical refinement or a complete overhaul - though there certainly are refinements and some new systems. No, what the DS brought was cinematography, and the ability to have much more expressive sequences featuring the first really memorable cast in the series.
