Paranoid hogwash. A simple fact, children : all that keeps you safe from Big Brother is laws, the top level of which is a Constitution. If those laws were not in place, the government could turn into a police state over night, CCTV or no CCTV. I don't think adding CCTV or the like adds to the risk of Orwellian horror. I do think it greatly reduces crime via the most effective deterrent there is : getting caught. INSTANTLY.
I'm pro-panopticon. I don't think government is perfect and wonderful, but I am immune to this sort of small-minded paranoid insinuations.

Every democracy gets the government they deserve. Not happy with Big Brother? Vote against him. Better still, run for election yourself. That's what democracies are here for.
