Recently, automotive professors at the South Puget Sound Community College received devastating news.

They were told by Chrysler that the very rare pre-production Dodge Viper the college had been given years ago would have to be crushed.

It seems of the 93 cars donated to schools for teaching purposes, two of them somehow ended up on the streets and in accidents.

It’s said those incidents resulted in millions of dollars in lawsuits for the company, as it still technically owns them.

To prevent that from ever happening again, they’re demanding that all of them be destroyed, something that, per the donation agreement, they’re within their rights to do.

The one at the Puget Sound college is the 4th one the company ever made. It’s valued at about a quarter of a million dollars.

Efforts to save it are planned, but there is little hope as a two-week deadline for its destruction was given.

Norm Chapman, an automotive technology instructor, took the news particularly hard.
