"Friday I'm in Love" was nominated for a Grammy Award and won the best Music Video from MTV. The song was written to be a slower number than its upbeat final rendition.
Interestingly, while the track was recorded in D major, the tape speed in the mastering process was slightly askew, resulting in the commercially released version sounding halfway between D major and E-flat major, a semitone higher.
