Russia responds to US threats of sanctions over Moscow’s military build-up in Ukraine’s Crimea. A Kremlin aide has warned that possible US sanctions on Russia would cause America’s financial system to crash and end its global financial domination. The aide added that Russia will reduce its economic dependence on the US, in the event of sanctions. American officials have threatened to target Russia’s state-run financial institutions and freeze the assets of top-ranking officials involved in the Crimea crisis. And the Pentagon has put all military engagements with Russia on hold. Washington has also suspended the upcoming trade and investment talks with Moscow.
