In the United States, a powerful storm has spread rain and snow across much of California.
Communities endangered by a wildfire just a few weeks ago are now facing floods along with the threat of mud and debris flows. The authorities in areas east of Los Angeles have ordered the mandatory evacuation of about 1,000 homes. Numerous traffic accidents occurred on slick or flooded roads across Southern California, as power outages hit about 25,000 customers. Winter storm warnings are in effect in the Sierra Nevada mountains for heavy snowfall. Some flights to and from Los Angeles and San Francisco international airports have been cancelled or delayed due to the adverse weather conditions.
